Parts of speech 品詞
The parts of speech in Japanese include verbs, adjectives, nouns, adverbs, conjunctions, particles, etc.
Word order 語順
- The predicate is placed at the end of the sentence.
- The modifier is placed before the modified word.
Predicate 述語
In Japanese, verbs, adjectives, and "noun + です (だ)" can be used as predicates.
The predicate will change form depending on whether it is affirmative or negative, or tense. There are no changes caused by personal pronoun, gender, or quantity in Japanese.
Particle 助詞
- Particles are used at the end of words or sentences.
- Particles are used to express the relationship between words and can also express various additional meanings.
Omission 省略
The subject or object is often omitted when the semantic meaning is clear in the context.
